Athenian Sunflower by Avlea Folk
Embroidery Counted Cross Stitch Kit
As seen in Just CrossStitch magazine!
This charming design originates in a vintage needlework booklet from Greece. Its stylized sunflowers alternate with large Xs, motifs common in many Greek folk embroideries and would have most likely been used as a border for cushion covers. The color palette is fresh and vibrant and the outlining stitches worked in grey-brown provide intricacy and contrast.
